The Europäisches Übersetzer-Kollegium in Straelen was one of the winners of the initiative "365 Landmarks in the Land of Ideas" and was honoured as an innovative German cultural institution of outstanding significance on 10 January 2006, the 28th anniversary of the Kollegium.

Minister of the Interior Schäuble underlined the significance of the initiative for Germany:
"In the year of the FIFA Cup 2006 the world will pay a great deal of attention to Germany. The initiative "Germany: Land of Ideas" and its projects document very impressively that we live in an innovative country. It contributes enormously to presenting our country as it is: rich in ideas, with a promising future, and committed."
