TRANSLATORS IN RESIDENCE

Since 2002, the Foundation for Art and Culture NRW, the Kunststiftung NRW supports the model of a "Translator in Residence" at the Europäisches Übersetzer-Kollegium Straelen with annually alternating translators having different language backgrounds.

The goal of this model is to continually strengthen the significance and standing of literary translators conveying culture and literature across the borders and to emphasise their significance in building bridges between cultures.

Translators working in different languages and specialising in different types of literary genres provide insight into their work through readings and series of lectures. Moreover, they offer practical exercises and workshops to schoolchildren and the public.

The Übersetzer-Kollegium appoints the Translators in Residence each fall. Please direct all questions about the appointments or booking a TIR-event to the Kollegium.
