RESIDENCIES AND GRANTS

All literary translators who have published at least two longer translations and are working on a translating project commissioned by a publisher may apply for a residency.

We do not supply application forms.

Please send us your application unaccompanied by any forms, including details on all the points listed below.

Residencies are possible at any time and usually at short notice.

Living and working at the Kollegium is free of charge for professional literary translators*.

THE KOLLEGIUM REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS

short curriculum vitae;

a complete list of publications with publication data;

a short description of the translation project and a copy of the contract with the publisher;

from when to when you would like to come.

After publication, please send, an unsolicited specimen copy to the EÜK for its "Library of Straelen Translations".

We try to fulfil all requests for residencies by professional literary translators as unbureaucratically as possible and within the desired period.

GRANTS

The Europäisches Übersetzer-Kollegium is authorised to award residency grants from means and in the name of third parties.

The Kollegium has binding contracts of cooperation with many grant providers that allow professional literary translators to stay at the EÜK for several weeks.

This offer is valid worldwide and attracts more applications than can be considered.

For this reason, we advise applying early.

GRANTS ARE PROVIDED BY

der Ministerpräsident des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen - Minister President of the Land North Rhine-Westphalia;

die Kunststiftung NRW - Foundation for Art and Culture of the Land North Rhine-Westphalia;
